I tried clearing CMOS, taking the surge protector out of the equation, changing RAM, even P/S etc.įinally, I tried removing one case fan from the equation (an Antec, BTW). Everything-the fans would go on, the machine would look like it was going to boot, By itself, coreboot does not provide BIOS call services.

In my own case, my own Abit KN8 SLI was (seemingly) dead for more than a week.Ĭouldn't seem to power up for long. Or my own Abit KN8 SLI, or another NF4-based board I worked on for a client. If it were in BIOS even with no signal would it still boot loop. On which chipset is that mobo based? I've seen similar problems on NF4 or NF4-SLI-based chipsets, such as the OP's, I'm not too hot on the idea of plunking down $600 for new mobo/ram/cpu as recommended in the Hot Rod, though I'm already thinking I might have to do just that. I'm out of ideas, and I have no computer other than this work laptop. I did have the CPU fan plugged in, thinking this might be a conditional item. I tried to unplug everything (drives, fans) and start it up, but no dice.

The power was plugged into a "surge master" power strip, and I haven't cracked open the case in quite a while, so I didn't change anything recently. So it looks like the mobo is getting power (LED is on), but it won't start up when I jump the "power" jumper.Īnyone have any ideas as to what may have happened? I don't have many other ideas. It does not work, as expected, since the power switch wasn't turning on the computer. I try to directly jump the "power switch" jumper on the jumper block with spkr, reset, etc. So the power switch is functioning correctly.

With only the motherboard, processor, memory, and processor fan active, the system attempts to boot from the primary UEFI (displaying code 15 on the internal display), fails, then attempts two boots from the backup UEFI. 1.1) motherboard for the first time and my system will not power on. It's a momentary switch and sure enough, it's closed when I depress the power button. I have just finished installing my GA-Z77X-UD5H(rev. I make sure that the power switch is actually working correctly, and it is. I then plug it all back in and notice that an LED on the motherboard is actually on (green), so it would appear that the mobo is getting power. So I have determined that the PSU is not the problem. It spins up, and I test the voltages on the many molex leads. I jump across the proper pins and fire up the PSU by itself on the floor. I remove the PSU and check to see if it actually has power when plugged in. I was home at 11:30 this morning and went back to the office at 2:00pm. As far as I can tell, it had been out for, at most, 3 hours. I notice that the power had been out throughout the house. It's as if the computer isn't plugged in. So I come home and go to turn on my computer.
